International Women’s Day roundtable turns visibility into action

Transport professionals used the annual event to compare practical initiatives and agree where collective action can have greater impact.

Moving beyond a single day of recognition

WiN Transport marked International Women’s Day with a roundtable focused on actions that can continue throughout the year. Participants shared examples of revised recruitment language, structured sponsorship, better-fitting protective equipment, and return-to-work support after extended leave.

The conversation also acknowledged that isolated initiatives lose momentum without ownership and evidence. Attendees formed small working groups around mentoring access, operational inclusion, and career visibility. Each group will publish a short progress update later in the year, including what worked, what did not, and what other organisations can adapt.
